Titles Choices and Research - The Grudge 2004
The Grudge's font is a simple to use, but also has good effectiveness in creating a scary image because of the un-even lines and transparency of the letters. This makes it look more suited to a horror.
The colour of the text on the advertising poster is a faded red which suits it well because it looks old.
If we were to choose this style of applying all the credits on a cut-away animation, we can achieve the most realism with our videos without displaying text over them, which takes the viewers interest away from the scene.
The Order of the Titles appear in the following Order-
-Ghost House Pictures (distibuter)
-Columbia (Production Company)
-Introduction (Message, quotes)
-A film by Takashi Shimizu
-The Grudge (Title)
-Casting by... (TC)

Title Choices and Research - Cabin Fever 2002
Cabin Fever's titles are similar to The Grudge's but are a more solid colour and are brighter on the background because of the bright orange colour. It is a more simple font that is less scratchy which make them less suited to the horror genre but still work with the film.
The effect that this type of title would have if we used them on ours is that it would be too bright on dark background and draw your attention too much to the titles and not what is happening on screen. This would be bad for us because you still need to pay attention to the images on screen as well as the titles, so if they're too bright they will completely focus on the titles because it's catching their eye. What we decided to do for our Titles-
We decided to use a scratchy looking font that looks more suited to horror with the uneven lines. We also used a faded red background to signify infection and blood within the production. We used a simple style of showing the titles by showing each of the actors, then the production designer etc all while the establishing shot and opening shots are showing on the screen.
The effect of this is that the titles are still noticeable on screen but do not grab the audience's eye so much that they focus on them more than what's going on. We also chose to select a simple but Gothic font, which portrays the effect of a horror related theme without looking too amateur or tacky.

How We Created the Titles -
The titles were created using 'live type'. and then were saved and were then exported into "Final cut". The font style which we used was 'Apple Lisang'. We chose this as it was simple and did not draw to much attention away from our opening sequence.
